Please join us for Yom Hashoah V'Hagvurah, Cleveland's annual commemoration of the Holocaust and heroism. Join our community to remember the Holocaust with this year's theme, "Out of the Darkness: Into a New Life."

About the Speaker:
Sean Martin is the assistant curator for Jewish history at the Western Reserve Historical Society (WRHS), where he oversees the Cleveland Jewish Archives, a special collecting program set up by WRHS in 1976 with the cooperation of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. He collects materials— usually correspondence, photographs and documents from individuals or organizations— that help tell the stories of the region’s Jewish community.
Martin holds master’s degrees in History and Yiddish language and literature, and a PhD in East European Jewish history from the Ohio State University. He reads, speaks, and translates Polish and Yiddish, and is the author of the book entitled A Stitch in Time: The Cleveland Garment Industry, and has written several articles about Cleveland and Polish Jewish history.

2016 Youngstown Yom Hashoah V’Hagvurah
The Jewish Federation of Youngstown would like to announce that the ceremony in memory of the Holocaust will be held  May 1st at four at the JCC on Gypsy Lane in Youngstown and May 5th at noon in the county courthouse in downtown Youngstown.

Sunday, May 1, 2016 -Yom Hashoah (Holocaust) Commemoration Ceremony & Program at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown, Ohio 44504 at 4:00 p.m. Video by students will be presented regarding a local Holocaust Survivor.

Thursday, May 5, 2016, Yom Hashoah (Holocaust) Commemoration program and Students' Essay/Poetry Contest awards at the Mahoning County Courthouse,2801 Market Street,Youngstown, Ohio 44503, at 12:00 p.m.(noon)
